colour palette problems.

I had this problem when I had the VNC server setup for 16
color mode (not bits colors). I was using a very old system with
a 256K memory VGA card, so it wouldn't support more color depth.
I had to replace the card to allow for at least 8 bits per pixel
on the host machine.

No solution, but a "me, too". I don't see exactly what you
describe,
but I do see color differences between native X sessions and VNC
sessions.

The symptoms I see are (1) some colors show up at white instead
of the
intended color, and (2) some colors are dithered approximations
of the
intended colors (it's entirely possible that case (1) is a
special
case of (2) for all I know). It's a minor annoyance, but I wish
I
knew how to make it go away. Most colors are the same in both
kinds
of sessions.

FYI, I run both native X and VNC at the same resolution (800x600)
and
pixel depth (8 bit). The display I use is either an NT Server
with
32-bit color or the laptop's built-in display (via svncviewer).
Both
native X and VNC are using the same rgb.txt (well, different
copies of
rgb.txt that are identical).
