Read Failed/Connection Closed

Hello All,
                    I am working with VNC for about 6 months now and
everything has worked fine until now.  I am trying to connect to
machines running NT server on another network.  I have set up a VPN to
connect our three networks together over the internet using software
called VPND.  I am able to logon to the other domains, and it seems like
I should be able to pull up the vnc session but I keep getting an error
the "read failed" from my Linux desktop.  When I try from a Windows
desktop I get a "connection closed" error.  Has anyone seen this
before.  I started looking thru the archives but haven't finished
searching out this problem.  Thanks for any input on the matter.
