Over a 28.8 modem, from nearly unusable to quite zippy :-) I can't
tell the *total* performance gain because the noncompressed VNC filled
up the pipe, but watching the numbers, I was using about 2400 bytes
per second uncompressed and about 400 compressed, working with one or
two apps on the remote machine (4-5 windows).
