On Linux, the fonts will typically be in somewhere like
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts. See your font path for details. But there will be a
'fixed' font somewhere!
In the misc directory, there are several fonts which include 'fixed'. But note
that none of the files is actually called 'fixed' - the mapping between
filenames and fonts is in fonts.alias and fonts.dir. On my machine, 'fixed' is
actually in a file called 6x13.pcf.gz.
