Me Too :)
I have this problem too. Has anyone had experience in programming to handle the suspend thing ? Some drivers can't handle it (e.g. DEC etherworks 3 NIC). So you wake up your PC and suddenly you're off the network.
About Suspending Desktops:
I pay my own power bills, I use my computer as an answering machine, so it is on all the time - If I leave it suspended, then it wakes up when the phone rings, and starts up heaps more quickly than if it was off. It uses less power (negligible monitor, hard disk, CPU fan). One day I will watch the meter and work out how much less power.
<gripe>NT won't even use DPMS to switch off the monitor! Some flagship OS!</gripe>

Work Hard. You might get a raise, a better job, or even a bigger monitor.
