Listening on 5901

Well, I can't say that I understand what all the fuss is about VNC and ports so can someone tell me
am I under threat of attack by hackers if I use WinVNC in the listen only mode (ie. disallow
keyboard and mouse entry).  Bear in mind that I run WinVNC from behind a firewall.

Enlightenment greatly appreciated.
