In the twisted world of Mac alt is option is <funny symbol , reproduced

The same button sends the same signals but is labelled differently on
different keyboards. It's usually the one between ctrl and command. My G3
has it marked:
alt
----
\__
Other keyboards have it marked Option or Opt
