Quentin,
(and list)
How come I can run it without an icon then?? I have installed it on in
excess of 30 machines, and growing... (will be about 200 by the time I'm
finished)
I changed the way it's started as a service from:
(this is in regedit 4 format)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices]
"WinVNC"=""C:\\Program Files\\Orl\\VNC\\WinVNC.exe" -service"
to
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices]
"WinVNC"="C:\\Program Files\\Orl\\VNC\\WinVNC.exe -service"
I didn't change the source code, I didn't recompile, I just removed a
couple of quotes from the registry.
BTW, I'm running Windows 95 OSR2 almost exclusively (ie the latest
release). We have some machines with winsock 2 patch applied, some without.
Dozens of types of Hardware (everything from 486-66 to PentiumII 350),
without exception every machine I've installed it on this way has NO icon
in the systray.
Can you explain this?
Oh, it really is running as a service too because I can log-in remotely.
David.
P.S. Restricted mode is a great idea anyway.
