IRIX 6.4 problems!

Hello!
I've read about VNC on the Debian mailing list and decided to try it out.
I need telecomputing to be able to use my university UNIX account at home on
my PC. I have a cable modem connection and the results should be fairly
good.

In any case, I've been trying to run the damn thing on the university server
which happens to be SGI Origin 2000 running IRIX6.4. But to no avail! The
Solaris binaries just gave error (of course). Then I tried compiling - got
even more errors. Then I checked the archives - digged a 3.3.1 binary
version for IRIX but it turned out I needed to use inst for it, and only
root can do that!!! (not everyone is a superuser, you know). Than I noticed
the patches, but I didn't succeed in applying them (I'm coming from WIN32
environment where patches know how to apply themselves...)

So basically, I've lost 2 days on this and still can't make it work. Can
anyone either tell me (in details) how to compiler the damn thing on IRIX6.4
or better still to provide a link to where I can d/l an already compiled
version of VNCserver/viewer.

Thanks in advance!

Michael
