Thanks for the suggestion, but I've tried it with the following results:
1. It doesn't boot the file system because the bzip2-compressed images
can't be decomressed with 8MB RAM.
2. SVGAlib is known not to support my graphics hardware.
3. There doesn't seem to be any support for PCMCIA, which I need for
network access (ne2000-type PCMCIA card).
If SVGAlib supported the hardware better, this might be worth hacking on...
