That's very bad.  WinVNC should cope gracefully with failure to update the
registry.  When you say "crashes", do you mean WinVNC crashes or Win95
crashes?  Do you get a dialog box giving an error message, or does the
machine just die?

Yes, the next version will have an option to disable the Properties dialog
for any required users.
