I think this is a problem in any program that changes the screen
resolution to 256-colours under DirectX.  VNC by default uses the GDI to
grab the current screen state, so the results will be erratic when using
DirectX, which bypasses the GDI to some extent.

Is Starcraft a DirectX game?
