I have a vnc server running on my win 32 machine, and when i try to
connect using my linux (slack 3.5) machine, i get an error, as follows:

root:/# vncviewer chris:0
vncviewer: VNC server supports protocol version 3.3 (viewer 3.3)
Password:
vncviewer: VNC authentication succeeded
vncviewer: Desktop name "chris"
vncviewer: Connected to VNC server, using protocol version 3.3
 16 bits per pixel.
Least significant byte first in each pixel
True colour: max red 31 green 31 blue 31
                     shift red 10 green 5 blue 0
Using default colormap which is truecolor
Creating window depth 25, visualid 0x22 colormap 0x23
(right about here, a window pops up briefly, then disappears)
vncviewer: read: Broken pipe
root:/#

I've read through the faq's, etc. The only thing i could find about a
read error was on one of the other platforms, and it said that the
server may not be accepting my bpp settings. so i tried playing around
with them -- still no luck.

Then there're other times when i try to run the viewer, and it hangs
before asking for a password, and then dies with a socket error, because
my Windows machine (win95 osr2) gets one of those dreaded blue screens.
Another thing..i tried setting the DebugLevel registry setting to 2, and
i still get no debug output. Any help would be appreciated. thankyou
