Alt key not working in Mac viewer

	I've seen this raised here before (Ben Stallings' messages of
Sep. 24 and 25) but can't find the answer in the archive nor the
documentation.  I can't get the Alt key to work in the MacVNC viewer
(ORL version) and Linux server.  Neither the left nor the right key
has any affect, either for Alt+letter combinations or Alt+mouse button
combinations.  I'm using an AppleDesign keyboard, PowerMac 6500, System
8.1 viewing Linux server version 3.3.2r2.
