Regarding the recent posts to remove the Icon in the system tray for VNC:
The system tray icon should be able to be disabled. Two main problems
with it are newbie hackers and "too easy" editing of properties.
Normally anyone wanting to gain access to my machine by hacking would have
to do port scans and then figure out which software it is. Now anyone who
walks past my office can now see which remote control software I have
running and start monitoring that port for activity, it removes all guess
work and makes any PC running VNC in an office enviroment an easy target.
For people like myself who use the program as a remote-helpdesk solution,
the tray "invites" users to modify the settings. I have already run into
times where people have accidently closed the program or changed the
settings. (Yes, we always check with the user to make sure they will
permit us to use this program on their machine and we explain it in
detail.)
