VNC Colormap sharing - what are the best settings?

Salutations fellow VNC'ers,

    I'm running VNC under Solaris 2.6 - is there a way to
minimize or eliminate the colormap sharing problems that
show up as "flashing" or adulteration of the colors of
other apps running alongside VNC?

I've been using the "-cc 3" option on vncserver but my users
are still complaining of "Black windows" and "unable to allocate
colormap" errors...
With for instance, you can tell it use only 64 colors with -ncols 64.

Interested to hear others' solutions to this!
