On machines running NT, I almost always install two copies of the OS. One full
one in C:\WINNT, and a second, very basic one somewhere like C:\WINNTBAK. This
second one doesn't need networking, games, service packs etc.
I can then boot into the second one and use it to move DLLs, delete drivers,
etc in the first. I can also load the first installation's registry into
REGEDT32 and edit it.
This facility has got me out of problems on many occasions, and I strongly
recommend it.
