Feature request, and Mac viewer speed comparison

The major difference between mine and Dair's viewers is that mine uses
networking classes written my me, Dair uses the standard PowerPlant ones.
There are good reasons pro and con for both approaches. Dair's is more
future proof and easier to maintain. I decided to write my own versions of
the networking stuff because I found the PP versions were too slow.
On the other hand Dair has made efforts to increase drawing speed (i.e.
with double/ triple buffering). If the ORL viewer is going faster then
this points to a networking reason.
