I have been trying to get the Winvnclient to connect to the Xvnc server, and
I've gotten nothing but fustration. Here is the situation: I have a small home
LAN, with my Linux PC and a Win95 PC on Ethernet. I can start the vncserver on
the Win95 side, and get a Win95 desktop window on my Linux box with vncviewer. I
can start vncserver on my Linux PC, then start vncviewer on the Linux PC and
"loopback connect" to the additional X/vnc viewer. What I can't get to work is
to connect from the Win95 PC, using vncviewer, to the Xvnc server. No matter
what options I try, I get "failed to connect to server". I am using the correct
name:number (syrinx:1 in my case). I have tried the "reset registry defaults"
in the Win95 VNC submenu. Both the Linux and Win95 PCs have vnc version 3.3.2.
Since the connection currently only works one way, my suspicion is that
something is configured incorrectly on the Win95 box, but that is about all I
can figure out.
