This is v odd. The program itself should not (indeed does not) allocate
memory from the system heap. Which puts me in mind of an OT problem. I
have read about a bug fix between 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 that vaguely mantioned
memory. You could try upgrading and see if that works (I'm using OT 1.2
here and it works fine)

I shall look into this, it may be a problem with the OpenTpt Modem library
(which, I shall admit I haven't tested too thoughly as I haven't got a

A Ha, where is OpenTpt Modem ? 

This is strange. It may be that the lack of OpenTpt modem is
forcing the program to use MacTCP (which is far more flakey)

Mind you, it might also be that OT 1.1.2 doesn't need OpenTpt Modem.
Anyway, try installing a higher version of OT and get back to me if it
still doesn't work. You should be able to get it from the quite
spectacularly slow apple server
