"server bits per pixel not 8, 16 or 32"??

First off, thank you very much for VNC!

I've been using VNC successfully for several weeks now; I use the Xvnc
server (under Linux) with the Win32 client (under WinNT 4.0).
However, I have a problem. After some amount of use, my VNC server
stops accepting new connections, leaving a message
"rfbSetTranslateFunction: server bits per pixel not 8, 16 or 32"
in the log file. At this point, I can continue using my
already-connected VNC client, but if that gets disconnected for some
reason, I have to kill off the server and start over.

I started off by using the Debian Linux package for VNC (based on
version 3.3.1) with the 3.3.1r13 Win32 client; in hopes that it would
fix the problem, I have upgraded to version 3.3.2 both on the server
and on the client. (In case it matters, I did the server upgrade
by bypassing the Debian packaging system; I simply overwrote the
/usr/X11R6/bin/Xvnc binary with the one from
vnc-3.3.2_x86_linux_2.0.tgz.)

Has anybody ever seen this before? Any suggestions?

I'm appending a complete server log from a "bad" run.
