Hi list,
I'm trying to run Xvnc on my Linux 2.0.33 machine, using
Xfree86 3.3.1. I'm using xdm, and I modified vncserver
to contain my installation path (/opt/vnc) and the font
and rgb paths (/usr/X11R6/lib/fonts etc).
I'm getting the following error messages:
Couldn't open RGB_DB '/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb.txt'
rfbInitSockets: listening on TCP port 5901
httpInitSockets: listening on TCP port 5801
failed to set default font path
'/usr/X11R6/lib/fonts/misc/,/usr/X11R6/lib/fonts/75dpi/'
Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'
_X11TransSocketINETConnect: Can't connect: errno = 111
_X11TransSocketINETConnect: Can't connect: errno = 111
_X11TransSocketINETConnect: Can't connect: errno = 111
_X11TransSocketINETConnect: Can't connect: errno = 111
I checked all the files and fonts, and they are available,
and readable.
I don't understand why the server can't read rgb.txt, as
it's world readable, and I can access it from the shell I'm using
to run xncserver. As far as the fonts are concerned, could it
be that Xvnc doesn't grok gzipped font files?
BTW, I've no problems using my Windows desktop from Unix.
Most impressive, super product!
