Can't install under WinNT

Yes, as a matter of fact, I ended up not having the tar and gzip tools 
on the NT box and had to get the zipped version to unpack it.  Just
exactly what should happen when I run the setup.exe program, as far as 
I should be able to tell by looking and the screen?  It sits there and 
"thinks" for a little while (30 seconds?) then the hour-glass cursor
switches back to a normal cursor, and that's it.  Where is it supposed 
to put the stuff it installed?

I have been able to run vncviewer by just running it from the
directory where I unzipped it.  Just exactly what does this  setup.exe 
thing do that could not be done manually?
