From fitz@jfitz.com Tue Jan 23 11:07:04 2001 From: fitz@jfitz.com (John Fitzgibbon) Date: Tue, 23 Jan 2001 11:07:04 +0000 Subject: Windows VNC client and ssh tools package. Message-ID: <000f01c084d3$7a9317c0$040ca8c0@jfitz.com> For people on the move, (which presumably includes most VNC users), I've packaged the following in a single self-extracting executable: - Windows VNC client (v 3.3.3 r7) - ssh binary + dlls (v 1.2.14) - PuTTY and pscp (v 0.50) - A short readme.txt outlining how to port-forward to a VNC server My reasoning is that Windows machines are pretty ubiquitous and ssh is a well established standard for secure access. PuTTY and pscp are included to allow secure (text based) terminal emulation and file transfer. The package is relatively light at 342K, (by Windows standards anyway). It comes "ready to go" -- it requires no installation and can be removed by deleting the extracted files, (though very security conscious users may also want to remove the VNC and PuTTY registry entries). The details and downloads are here: http://www.jfitz.com/vnc/ Please feel free to mirror or distribute the files and information on this page. People using xcutsel to copy/cut & paste between VNC and an X desktop might be interested with it. I was bored clicking on xcutsel's buttons to copy/paste between GTK apps on my VNC desktop and the Windows system running vncviewer. This tool regularly scans the primary selection and the cutbuffer 0. If one of them is changed, it updates the other one. I don't need xcutsel anymore and have a working cut and paste between GTK (through VNC) and Windows.
